Marcus is the first Warrior available to new players and acts as the definitive starter tank. His passive ability reduces all incoming physical damage by a flat percentage, and his active skill creates a temporary shield that absorbs an entire hit regardless of damage value. Marcus is the perfect introduction to the Warrior class and remains useful well into the mid game.

Brom is the endgame Warrior and a direct upgrade from starter Marcus. Where Marcus focusses on personal survivability, Brom extends his protection to the whole team — his Fortress Stance skill projects a directional shield wall that blocks projectiles for all heroes standing behind him. Brom is the key to surviving the game's toughest late-game monster sieges.

Elara is the premier Paladin hero and one of the most popular characters from the original Crusaders Quest mobile game. In Hero Town, her passive healing aura pulses every 5 seconds, restoring HP to all heroes within range. Her active skill, Divine Light, removes all negative status effects from the party and temporarily boosts healing received by 40%. Mid and late-game players consider Elara essential.

Vex is the quintessential early-game DPS Hunter. He dashes to the highest-HP enemy and delivers a rapid three-hit combo that reliably stuns the target. His fast attack animation makes him feel incredibly satisfying to watch during idle battles. Vex's straightforward kit makes him beginner-friendly but he does start to plateau around the mid game when stronger Epic hunters become available.

Lyra is universally regarded as the best Archer hero in Hero Town at launch. Her Rain of Arrows skill floods the entire battlefield with piercing projectiles that hit every enemy simultaneously, making her the single most effective wave-clear hero in the game. Lyra is often the first Epic hero players spend resources on, and for good reason — she remains top-tier throughout the entire game.

Zephyrus is the top Wizard in Hero Town, specialising in wide-area frost magic that freezes entire monster groups in place while dealing damage over time. His Blizzard skill is visually stunning and strategically powerful — frozen monsters take 50% increased damage from all sources, making him perfect for combo setups with Hunters and Archers. Zephyrus requires significant Skill Tree investment but pays back tenfold in the late game.

Kael is a fire-specialising Wizard who prioritises raw single-target burst over Zephyrus's AoE freeze approach. His Inferno Bolt skill delivers the highest single-hit magic damage of any 4-star hero, making him excellent against boss monsters with large HP pools. Kael is a solid mid-game Wizard option before players acquire Zephyrus.

Sera is the starter Priest hero and one of the most critical early-game recruits. She heals the lowest-HP ally every 3 seconds and her active skill, Miracle, instantly revives any fallen hero with 50% HP. Miracle has a 60-second cooldown, but even one free revival per minute saves enormous amounts of gold over a long idle session. Every player should recruit Sera as their second hero after their first Warrior.
